We are building an HR team to support our fast-paced, one-of-a-kind convenience and retail stations. CSI operates 300+ company-owned service stations, with approximately 3,000 employees in California, Washington, and Oregon.
The Employee Relations (ER) Specialist role is part of CSI’s HR team and is responsible for managing employee relations and compliance matters, including compliance with employment laws, investigations, conflict resolution, and employee engagement. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, such as laws relating to wage and hour, benefits, leave of absence, etc.
Create and support the implementation of CSI practices and policies to comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Conduct workplace investigations, including drafting investigation reports, tracking, and reporting. Coordinates training and knowledge sharing within the HR team to build ER knowledge and capabilities.
Interact with external and internal employment and legal groups to identify best practices and incorporate them into CSI.
Manage ER-related employee communications, including training.
Administer equal employment opportunity and D&I programs in partnership with HR Manager and other stakeholders.
Accountable for reporting and analysis on ER and compliance matters, providing trends and recommendations.
Identify and support HR system enhancements, testing and auditing for ER related categories such as wage and hour and time tracking.
Support litigation and labor claims, as needed
Support implementation of employee engagement initiatives.
Provide backup support to HR team members as needed and participate in special projects as assigned by the manager.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of Human Resources experience in the area of employee relations, including managing investigations.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field
Working knowledge of legal policies & procedures related to employment practices in California, Oregon, and/or Washington.
Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of effectively presenting data insights and collaborating with various stakeholders across different groups.
Well organized, with ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities and high volume of work.
Experience with HR Information Systems (Workday is a plus), reporting and data analysis.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior HR experience within a fast-paced, quick-serve business with 200+ locations, or the retail industry.
Experience working in PowerBI or similar data visualization tools.
Relocation Options:
Northern CA Location (Preferred Location): Relocation will not be considered. Candidates must reside within 30-mile radius of San Ramon CA and must be able to travel into the office on regular basis.
Southern CA Location (Secondary Location): Relocation will not be considered. Candidates must reside within 30 miles of a major airport.
Compensation Range:
